Yuma Pawang Tayal

Introduction
Yuma Pawang, born in 2000, is a member of the Atayal tribe in the Xiakalo River Basin of Hsinchu. She will graduate from the Department of Film Creation at Taipei National University of the Arts, majoring in performance and fine arts. As a contemporary Atayal woman, she explores the nature, transformation and inheritance between herself and her culture through performance, fine arts and music. In recent years, she has focused on ancient tunes. Her final work "Nan" in the 2021 semester attempts to sort out and introduce herself through ancient tunes and images, and was shortlisted for the experimental film of the Rising Star Film Festival. In 2023, she went to Northern Europe for a month of music and cultural exchange with the Minang Performance Troupe formed by five aboriginals from the same school. In 2023, I met Kojima Daika at a music performance, and later saw possibilities in Yuma's work "Nan". Therefore, in 2024, I went on a three-month tour in the United States with Kojima Daika to share the Atayal ancient chanting. In the future, I will also present the connection between myself and culture in various ways of cooperation with Kojima Daika.
