Introduction

Lin Yu-Chieh, born in 1991 in Fengyuan, Taichung, briefly lived in Japan, and currently resides in Kaohsiung.

I enjoy working with various craft materials, primarily using metal, ceramics, and lacquer to develop personal creations.

I believe that works created by hand can convey messages.

At this stage, I aim to start my creations with stability and everyday life as a foundation.

Lin Yujie and Wei Zhaoyi's Double Exhibition

2020-2022/Metalwork, Pottery/Yanshiwu

Turning thirty seems to demand a sense of maturity, aspiring to be steady like mountains, yet it's not easy. In this in-between state, looking back feels awkward, and the present feels uncertain. Wei Chao-Yi returns with experience in documentary filmmaking, while Lin Yu-Chieh brings her craft background. Having moved back to Kaohsiung from Japan in 2020, their reflections over the past two years will be expressed through video, metalwork, and ceramics, showcasing the helplessness and tension of life.

Bamboo Curtain Studio-Domestic Residency Program

2020/ceramic, mud/2.5x3x1 ~ 10x17x4cm/80 pieces

A meaningful farewell to Bamboo Curtain Studio, a place of great significance in my life.

I gathered plants from the paths around Bamboo Curtain, as well as man-made objects from within the studio. These traces of Bamboo Curtain and plants were dipped, coated, and pressed into clay, then fired into ceramics. The pieces were then strung together and adorned on a wax apple tree.

On the day of the presentation, a ceremonial performance was held around the wax apple tree with the partners from Bansu House.

Thank you to Bansu House for the companionship, and thank you to Bamboo Curtain Studio for its existence.

Participating Creators on the Day of Presentation:
